The main challenge in this project was lighting a children's section with a peculiar and organic geometry, ensuring the illuminance levels required for a reading area, but with strict glare control. It was essential to create an environment that was not excessively technical or cold, but rather playful, comfortable, and visually stimulating, capable of capturing children's attention and inviting families to stay in the space.
To respond to the store's fluid geometry, the developed solution moved away from traditional lighting grids and focused on total adaptation to the architecture. Custom-molded continuous light lines were applied, meandering organically across the ceiling, naturally guiding visitors' paths along the bookshelves. To complement this linear cove/ceiling lighting, large circular suspended luminaires were integrated. Equipped with high-quality opal diffusers, these pieces act as visual attraction points, while simultaneously ensuring a soft and homogeneous light distribution that fills the volume of the space without creating harsh shadows on the reading plane.
The result is a highly immersive and welcoming space, where light acts as a scenographic element that reinforces the magical identity of the children's section. In addition to the excellent visual comfort achieved, the adoption of state-of-the-art LED technology with optimized optics ensures high energy efficiency and low long-term maintenance costs for the brand.
