Lighting in healthcare spaces requires a strict balance between technical precision and human comfort. At the Polo de Saúde de Cascais, the main challenge was to design a lighting solution that guaranteed excellent illuminance levels for administrative and clinical tasks, while creating a serene, safe, and welcoming environment for patients and professionals, avoiding any type of glare or visual fatigue in all areas, including circulation zones.
To meet the different demands of the space, the LEUK team opted for a segmented and highly functional approach: Reception and Customer Service: A suspended linear luminaire (LINEA range) was strategically positioned over the counter. This choice allows light to be directed precisely to the employees' workspace, facilitating the use of screens without creating unwanted reflections. Circulation Zones: In the corridors, the true arteries of the clinic, the choice fell on continuous LED linear profiles installed asymmetrically at the edge of the false ceiling. This elegant, uninterrupted line of light acts as an intuitive visual guide, ensuring perfectly uniform light distribution and minimizing glare for those passing through. Clinical and Waiting Rooms: The solution involved surface-mounted circular luminaires on the ceiling. With a dark finish that contrasts with the light architecture, these luminaires feature high-quality diffusers that guarantee broad and soft light, complementing the entry of natural daylight.
The result is a healthcare center where light acts passively but structurally, promoting overall well-being. Employees benefit from optimized task lighting, while patients move around and are welcomed in a calm, safe, and visually highly comfortable environment. The state-of-the-art LED technology implemented also ensures a drastic reduction in maintenance costs and high energy efficiency, which are fundamental for space management.
