The lighting project for the iconic Restaurante Camelo required a versatile approach, capable of responding to the needs of different environments within the same building. The main challenge was to create an intimate, sophisticated, and welcoming atmosphere in the main dining room without obstructing the magnificent panoramic sea view, while simultaneously ensuring general, broad, and uniform lighting for the event hall, maintaining aesthetic coherence throughout the project.
In the main room, characterized by its elegant slatted wooden ceiling and large windows facing the coast, the solution involved integrating suspended tubular luminaires with a minimalist profile. Diving discreetly between the wooden slats, these cylinders project highly focused accent lighting onto the tables. This choice creates comfortable and intimate "islands" of light for the customers, minimizing glare and avoiding unwanted reflections on the glass. For the event hall, which features a flat, dark ceiling, the strategy was diametrically opposed, yet equally impactful. Large suspended circular luminaires were installed, acting as true light sculptures in the space. These luminous crowns not only break the monotony of the dark ceiling, giving it scale and three-dimensionality, but also ensure a homogeneous and diffuse light distribution, essential for the flexibility required for events and banquets.
LEUK's intervention resulted in a space where light shapes the architecture and elevates the gastronomic experience. The harmony between the intimately accented zones and the broad light areas gives the restaurant unique versatility. Additionally, the implementation of state-of-the-art LED technology guarantees lighting with high color fidelity — essential for enhancing the presentation of the dishes —, combined with significant energy efficiency and durability.
